I am certain that I am not the only person who sits down to accomplish my article writing task only to discover my creative juices have dried up! I am faced with writer’s block. I hope this article will help you when you are faced with these times and help you find ways to defeat writer’s block.

I was speaking with a friend and we were discussing how we needed to get articles written. I happened to mention that all too often my day begins with sitting down at my computer around 8 AM and the day goes by and before I know it is midnight. Sure I might have gotten a lot of things done but not always my writing.

It hit me at that moment that the days that I set aside time to accomplish the many other things that make up my life, like cleaning the garage, general house cleaning, and yard work, just to mention a few, it is during those times that my mind is wandering and thinking up great material to include in my articles.

Guess the statement, “You can’t see the trees for the forest,” sort of applies here. We can suffer from information overload while sitting at our computer. When we take the time to do other things, our thought process frees up and we are able to come up with great content.

Also, I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren and that always provides me with great content.  Perhaps you have know of some great projects that children enjoy.  Just as I suffer from writer’s block, there are grandparents who are looking for new ways to entertain their grandchildren.  Share your expertise.

Take for example, the mundane task of cleaning out the garage. I am sure you can come up with organizing techniques that you can share with others. This chore can turn into something worthwhile and exciting. (Who would have ever thought that possible?)

If you enjoy gardening, like I do, what types of plants do you have? How do you care for them? There are even little suggestions you might have about taking care of your lawn and keeping the weeds at bay. There is a world of people that would welcome your suggestions. Do you know a homemade remedy for killing weeds? What is the best time to trim bushes/hedges and put down a weed killer application?

You could write an article about what to do when you tangle with poison ivy. I had never been allergic to poison ivy before. A couple of years ago I made the big mistake of weed eating a flower bed in my back yard that had poison ivy. The weed eater managed to fling the poison ivy plants all up and down my legs (I was wearing shorts), arms, face, etc. If I had know what I needed to do at that moment to get the poison ivy oil off my body to eliminate its spreading I could have saved myself a LOT of discomfort and trips to the doctor.

The list goes on and on. And just think, in the process you are not only coming up with content for your blogs and articles and being a great service to others but you are getting your chores done. Keep a pad and pen nearby and you will be amazed at the material you will come up with for those times when you need ways to defeat writer’s block.

Happy writing!  Take time to enjoy life.
